Deaton's Appeal Denied, Re-Election to Take Place

April 14, 2011

Re-Election to take place May 10, 2011.

On Monday, April 4, 2011 the Supreme Court of the State of Oklahoma ordered that all relief sought by petitioner and candidate for Rattan School Board Loyd Deaton be denied.

Candidate Deaton had filed for an appeal because he believes he won the Rattan School Board election by one vote, being 317 for him and 316 for Valerie Clay Merida. Deaton was/is claiming that the Pushmataha County Election Board, had certified him the winner. Which isn't true according to the Election Board, who were given a irregularity claim by Merida before the Friday after the election by 5:00 (Feb 11). The Irregularity claim had to do with one of Deaton's relatives notarizing an absentee ballot.

The time has finally come to end this race for a win once and for all. On Tuesday, May 10, 2011 Rattan citizens will finally know who is the final member of the Rattan School Board. Polls will be open at the regular locations from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
