Dogs Causing Problems in Antlers

May 4, 2011

On Monday, May 2, 2011 during the Antlers City Council Meeting there was a full house as many residents of Antlers came to show that they were fed up with the stray dogs and dogs who's owners allow to run loose around town. One woman in attendance had been bitten by a Pitt Bull while walking down the street.

As a result the City Council proclaimed that they would make a renewed effort to pick up any and all dogs who were running free around town. The Council wanted to also remind Citizens of Antlers that there is a Leash Law inside City Limits and you mush have your animals inside of am enclosure, on a leash or on a chain.

However, picking up dogs isn't going to be the only thing that is going to take place. Police will increase their patrols to see who all is just opening the door for their pets, instead of abiding by the leash law, when they get home from work. Dogs who do belong to someone will not only be picked up and taken to the pound but the owners of the dog will also be issued a citation. If matters don't improve, the Council has discussed increasing the fines.
