Flossie King

Flossie Mae King was born November 4, 1922 in Atoka to Arthur Washington and Alice Gertrude (Thomas) Pool. She passed from this life February 29, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 89. Flossie married Elgin Elmore King in Atoka in 1941. She had raised ten children and was a wonderful biscuit & jelly maker. Flossie was of the Baptist faith and she enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. Flossie was preceded in death by her husband: Elgin King; parents: Arthur & Alice Pool; sons: Douglas King & Freddie King; daughter: Delores Rember; brothers: Thomas E. Pool & Jerry O. Pool; a granddaughter: Leigh Ann (Fore) King; and two grandsons: Ronnie Gene King & Brian Martin. She is survived by her children: Thomas King & wife Barbara of Elmore City, Linda Martin & husband Rodney of Midland, TX, Alice Rember & husband Frank of Antlers, Tonya Hoskins & husband Stormy of Roswell, NM, Terry King & wife Cathie of Calera, Jerry King of Hartshorne, and Vickie Yerta & husband David of Clayton; daughter-in-law: Virginia King of Leveland, TX; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; 1 nephew: Tony Pool; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Mills & Coffey Chapel with Rodney Martin & Reverend Bill Haddox officiating. Music was “On The Wings Of A Dove”, “Peace In The Valley”, “Amazing Grace”, & “I’ll Fly Away”. Pallbearers included: Larry Martin, Keith Martin, Dewy Rember, Bill Rember, Blake Rember, & Brandon Davis. Honorary Pallbearers included: Pete Puckett, Alford Eskue, Dwight Satterfield, & Brent Willson. Interment followed at Jumbo Cemetery.
