Four killed in collision

Four lives were claimed in Grant on Sunday night after a vehicle failed to yield and pulled out in front of another vehicle.
The fatality collision took place one mile west of Grant on HWY 271 in Choctaw County at approximately 9:00 p.m.
What happened, according to the OHP Trooper’s report, was that vehicle 1, being operated by Celina E. Pereze-Landeros of Dallas, T.X., was headed south on 271 when vehicle 2, which was heading east failed to yield and pulled out in front of vehicle 1. Vehicle 2 was being operated by Rodney R. Sutterfield of Antlers.
All four occupants of vehicle 2 were pinned for approximately 25 minutes before being freed by the Hugo and Grant Fire Departments.
The driver of vehicle 1 and his passenger, Martha Hicks of Paris, TX., both refused treatment at the scene.
Vehicle 2 had 4 individuals inside. Rodney R. Sutterfield or Antlers was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries sustained during the collision. His passengers, J.W. Fleeks of Grant and Mildred F. Mitchell of Antlers, were transported by EMS to Choctaw Memorial Hospital where later they were pronounced dead due to their injuries. The final passenger, Crystal Sutterfield of Antlers was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
This collision was investigated by Trooper Kevin Miller #824 of the Choctaw County Detachment. He was assisted by Trooper Joe Standridge #928, also of the Choctaw County Detachment.
