Mr. Brent Franks, Pushmataha County resident, business owner, minister, and former Mayor of the City of Antlers, was recently elected as Chairman for Little Dixie Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors.

Little Dixie has a tripartite board comprised of 27 members representing the Public, Private and Low Income sectors of the Communities. Mr. Franks serves in the Private Sector representing the Pushmataha County Ministerial Alliance. He has served on Little Dixie’s Board of Directors since April 2005 and as the Vice-Chairman for the past three years.

He officially became Chairman of Little Dixie’s Board of Directors in September of 2012. He has spent most of his life in Pushmataha County. After graduating from high school, he left the area for a short time to attend college and pursue a career. He decided to return to Antlers in 1990 and has been actively involved in the community ever since.

Franks is a minister at Antlers Church of Christ, past president of Kiamichi Youth, Inc., and was Mayor of Antlers for more than six years. He also served on the city's Planning & Zoning Board for over a decade and is currently a member on the Pushmataha County Hospital Board. He and his wife of 33 years, Stacey Franks, have raised two sons and currently own two businesses in Antlers, “Brent’s Heat & Air” and “Four Seasons Nursery” (formerly Tommy’s Fruit Stand).

In Brent’s “free time”, he announces the Antler’s Bearcat football games on KDOE 102.3 radio. Mr. Franks said “I really enjoy doing everything I can to give back to my community. I had an excellent role model in the late Charles Uhles (Chair of Little Dixie’s Board of Directors); He mentored me as a young man and always encouraged me to be involved in my community. It was because of him that I first decided to serve on Little Dixie’s Board back in 2005 and it was a good decision. It allows me the opportunity to help others which is a reward in itself.”

Brenda Needham, Executive Director of Little Dixie, stated: “Little Dixie is so fortunate to have Brent on the agency’s Board of Directors. Having been on the board for over seven years, he understands the many programs and services that make up the agency and I know he is going to continue to be an asset in his new role as Board Chairman. He is dedicated to his community and he gives so much of his time towards helping others which aligns perfectly with the Mission of Community Action. I’m sure he will do an outstanding job.”
