Fugitive captured, released on own recognizance

A Hugo resident has recently been charged with begin a fugitive from justice, a felony charge.

Mikki Jo Thompson, a 39 year old female, was charged with Theft by check ($1500<$20K) in Grayson County, Texas. Prior to presentment, Thompson fled the state, becoming a fugitive from justice of the State of Texas. According to authorities, Thompson fled from the state and had been residing in Hugo.

Thompson was arrested but released on her own recognizance and agreed to appear at all court dates. If she fails to comply she will be guilty of a felony and may be fined up to $5,000 or imprisonment for up to 2 years.

Thompson entered a plea of not guilty regarding the charges pending against her. Her preliminary hearing is set to take place July 10, 2013.

Fugitive from Justice: 22 O.S. § 1141.13, a FELONY: “With having fled from justice or with having been convicted of a crime in that state and having escaped from confinement, or having broken the terms of his bail, probation or parole, or whenever complaint shall have been made before any judge or magistrate in this state setting forth on the affidavit of any credible person in another state that a crime has been committed in such other state, and that the accused has been charged in such state with the commission of the crime.”
