Gracie Fern Sloan

Gracie Fern Sloan was born April 12, 1926, in Imperial, CA, to Andy & Ruby (Waller) Dobbs. She passed from this life July 3, 2013, in Antlers, at the age of 87. Fern was a resident of the Antlers community for most of her life. She was married to Cecil Glynn Sloan until his passing in 2007. Fern was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, which she & Cecil had helped to build. She was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed playing the piano for church, being with her church family, playing with her grandkids, and spending time with her loved ones. Fern was preceded in death by her husband: Cecil Glynn Sloan; parents: Andy & Ruby (Waller) Dobbs; brothers: Don Dobbs, Ray Dobbs, Clyde Dobbs, & Gene Dobbs. She is survived by her son: Jimmie Ray Owens & wife Karen of Antlers; stepsons: Calvin Sloan & wife Penny of San Diego, CA, and Bobby Sloan & wife Veronica of Florida; stepdaughter: Sherry Sloan of Tuscon, AZ; grandchildren: Joy Hedgecock of Antlers, Jim G. Owens of Antlers, & Lanette Cornett of Tulsa; great-grandchildren: B.J. Hedgecock, Michael Hedgecock, Brittany Carter, Kaitlin Fielding, Cheyenne Owens, Mandy Owens, Faith Owens, Colton Scott, & Teele Thyssen; great great-grandchildren: Brylee, Tripp, Trent, & Michelle; brother: Jerry Dobbs of McAlester; sisters: Eddith Chitwood of Savannah, Faye Zeman of Bastrop, TX, & Juanita Berger of Bastrop, TX; numerous nieces & nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Darwin Cemetery Pavilion with David Dobbs officiating. Pallbearers included Jim Owens, B.J. Hedgecock, Michael Hedgecock, Colton Scott, Teele Thyssen, & Jay Carter. Interment followed at Darwin Cemetery. Family and friends may send online condolences at
