Harvey Daniel Joslin was born May 6, 1937 in Snow to Clarence and Lois (Noland) Joslin. He passed from this life August 10, 2011 in McAlester at the age of 74. Harvey grew up in Joslin Valley riding and hunting in the canyons and mountains and fishing and swimming in Caney and Cedar Creeks. This is the country he loved. Harvey married Patricia Sanders on June 27, 1958 in Hugo and together they raised three children. He lived and worked several places such as, the logwoods of California, ranches and sale barns in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He worked for Nekoosa Papers and Georgia Pacific building roads, surveying, marking timber and running the puplwood yard in Antlers and eventually at the siding named after him south of Antlers where he retired after 22 years in 1995. Harvey always came back to the place he loved and lived the last 32 years of his life on the bank of Caney Creek just a half mile from the ol home place where he was born and raised. He enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to bluegrass music, & visiting with family & friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Lois; sisters: Evelyn Pound and Anna Lue Franks; and brothers: Kenneth, Donald, Luther, and Russell Joslin. He is survived by his wife: Patricia of the home; daughter: Vondale Erwin & husband Bill of Connerville; son: Stuart Joslin & wife Tammy of Wilburton, Chris Joslin & wife Joellen of Antlers; six grandchildren: Ricky Daniel Burce, Virginia Hollingback, Bobby & Justin Joslin of Wilburton, Shelby & Chandler Joslin of Antlers; two great grandchildren: Kaycee & Tanner Hollingback of Wilburton; sister: Carol Perkins; brothers: Orville & Larry; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Antlers First Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Reed officiating. Musical selections included: “Precious Memories” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” Interment followed at the Finley Cemetery in Finley.
