Irine Axton (formerly Irine Langley) of Rattan passed away peacefully on January 20, 2014 after suffering a stroke. Mrs. Axton was born and raised in the Antlers area. She lived in San Diego, California, for more than 30 years where she worked for the San Diego School District; she retired to her home in Rattan in 1988 to be near her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Axton was an avid gardener, baker, and quilter and was active in the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan. Mrs. Axton is survived by her beloved husband, John; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ron Frandsen, Jo Ann and Larry Legg, and Debbie Hardin and Jon Preimesberger; her grandchildren, Rick Legg, Jarrod Legg, Kevin Legg, and Juliane Irine Preimesberger; and her seven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Landrey, Whitney, Gehrig, Dallas, Jaxson, and Parker Legg; her step children David, Pat, Paula, and Bob Axton and their families; and her sister Christine Duffy and brother James Langley. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Victory Assembly of God Church in Rattan. Interment follows at Rattan Cemetery in Rattan. Services are under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service in Antlers.
