Jessy Lee Eugene Ervin was born February 26, 1928 in McAlester to James Lee Roy and Sarah Ellen (Branch) Ervin. He passed from this life May 6, 2011 in Calera at the age of 83. Eugene served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He married Ruby Christine Burnett December 24, 1948 in Yuba and together they raised four children. They moved back to this area in 1963 from west Texas. Eugene loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents: James Lee Roy & Sarah Ellen Ervin; sisters: Ann McGuire and Kay Carl; and three brothers: Richard, Ezra and W. J. Ervin. He is survived by his wife: Ruby Christine Ervin of the home; four children: Reuben Ervin & wife Karla of El Dorado Springs, MO.; Debbie Danderson & husband Cliff of Bentley; James Ervin of Durant; and Susan Lee & husband Dan of Cypress, TX.; eleven grandchildren: Derek, Shanda, Amy, Eric, Megan, Jesse, Andy, Emily, Brianna, Poppi and Seth; three great grandchildren: Brenton, Davis and Casey; two brothers: Doyle Ervin and Tony Ervin; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Mills & Coffey Chapel with Steve Walker officiating. Musical selections included special music by various artists.
