Leonard Bruce

Leonard Bruce of Clayton passed from this life on January 21, 2014 in a Tulsa area hospitalat the age of 85. Mr. Bruce was born October 14, 1928 in Nolia to Wesley and Matilda Bruce. He joined the Army and served his country during the Korean War. He married Jackqueline Winberry on March 28, 1953. Jackie and Leonard Bruce raised their family in Oklahoma City. After retiring, they returned to Clayton. Mr. Bruce was the current Commander of the American Legion Post#68 in Clayton. Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Francis, Otis, Olen and Loyal Bruce; and three sisters: Bell Wilson, Rosebud Minyard, and Leona McKaughan. He is survived by his wife Jackie Bruce of the home; one daughter Soozi and David Icks of Georgetown, TX; one son Jeff and Ronna Bruce of Cibilo, TX; a granddaughter Stacy and Erin Bryant of Cypress, TX; two grandsons: Steven and Heather Bruce of Newport News, VA; Eric and Virginia Bruce of San Antonio, TX; two great-grandsons: Zachary and Jaxon Bryant of Cypress, TX; two great-granddaughters: London and Alana Bruce of Newport News, VA; three sisters: Becky Brown of California; Faye Thomas of Albuquerque, NM; Juanita Allen of Nashoba; and one brother Eldon Bruce of Nashoba. He also had many nieces, nephews and friends. Services were held January 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Nashoba at the Nashoba School with Gary Fuller officiating. Pallbearers included: Jeff Bruce, Charlie Bruce, Steven Bruce, Eric Bruce, Chad Becker and Sheldon Weathers. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Serves.
