Local resident meets President Obama while working with the Red Cross

President Obama made a visit to Red Cross National Headquarters (NHQ) in Washington, DC, Tuesday for a news conference filmed live from Red Cross's Disaster Operations Center (DOC) to make an update of the recent destruction from Hurricane Sandy. Attending the filming was Donna Head, Hugo, shown greeting the President after the filming. Mrs. Head is the Choctaw-Pushmataha County Disaster Action Team Lead. Donna is presently working at NHQ in Washington, DC.

Donna graduated from Antlers High School in 1969 where she was a cheerleader, a proud member of the Antlers High School Marching Band, and a team member of the Bearcats Girls Basketball Team. Her parents were Coy and Waneeta Willison and they lived south of Antlers on the County Line Road beginning in 1959.

She started her 30 year career as a news media reporter at the Antlers American working after school doing typing on the ticker tape machine and learning newspaper lay outs. Mrs. Bell was the lady that she reported to. Donna also worked at the Tastee Freeze on weekends where her mother worked for several years.

Right now Donna is working in Washington, DC. She will be home December 15th of this year. She has been a member of Red Cross since 1995 and has been deployed to over 90 disasters.
