A group of local churches joined together to collect school supplies for students at Antlers Elementary School. Challenged by the scripture in 1 John 3:17-18, to not just tell people you love them, but to show them.

I felt impressed to do something to support our community and to show people the love of Jesus, to Love Out Loud. The idea of the churches joining together to support our community was a great way for churches to go outside the walls of the church and spread the love of Jesus in our town. When we work together to accomplish tasks, we can acheive a greater result.

The churches started in May by collecting school supplies, each church designated a certain supply or two. We compiled all of the supplies in the old elementary to give out during the “Meet and Greet Your Teachers” event. The rooms were divided by grade, Pre-K through 2 and 3rd through 5th. Each student that chose to fill out a form to receive free school supplies, received a voucher when they meet their teacher. They brought their voucher to the rooms and were helped by a member from one of the churches to pick out their school supplies. The students finished their time with a prayer for a good year and a snack.

My desire is to continue and expand the school supply drive. We apperciate the superintendent, principals, secretaries, and maintance staff for allowing and working with us during this drive.
