Loy Betty (Painter) Boling passed from this life on Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Dewey at the age of 100. Loy spent her childhood years in the Cookson Hills, Weber’s Falls and Black Gum Mountain area. As an adult she lived in the Springfield and Canon City, CO areas and in the Antlers and Dewey areas. Loy was a woman who loved deeply. She loved her God; her siblings, her husbands, her son and daughter, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her extended family and friends. She also had a passion for the simple beauty of nature: the forests, mountains, high plains, and rivers and streams of cool clear water. Loy also enjoyed the simple pleasures of daily life, especially sharing a cup of coffee and a good piece of pie with whoever was available at the time. Loy was a real cowgirl who also loved the bling of her rhinestones. At 97 years of age she was still wearing her cowboy boots, Wranglers and rhinestone shirts every day. She was also a nurse, a carpenter, a gardener, a seamstress, a dancer, and an explorer. One of her favorite activities was traveling and visiting new locations in her camper. She appreciated all of God’s creatures but she was especially drawn to the beauty of horses, cardinals, and mockingbirds. Loy was a woman of great faith, busy hands, and a satisfied mind. Loy was preceded in death by her parents Thomas J. and Minny (Hamilton) Brown, five husbands; one daughter Rozell Dowell; two grandsons Steven Kent Dowell and Mike Painter; one great granddaughter, Heather Dowell; one great great grandson Ryan Barnes and eight brothers and sisters. She was survivors by; her son Lee Painter of Antlers; 5 grandchildren Patti Barnes of Bartlesville, Linda Banks of Dewey, Jerry Dowell of Oklahoma City, Steven Painter of Antlers and Kimberly Cooper of Springfield, CO; 13 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
