Once again, anglers from the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club had to contend with temperatures above one hundred degrees during their bass tournament held on McGee Creek Lake. The tournament took place on August 27. Despite the hot weather and the slot length limit on the lake that requires bass from sixteen to twenty-two inches to be released, a few anglers were able to put together a nice stringer.

Winning the tournament was Josh Cole. Josh had a six fish limit that weighed 10.48 pounds. Cotton Bradford finished in second place with a stringer weight of 7.58 pounds. Cotton was the only angler to catch a bass over the slot limit. His bass weighed 5.04 pounds and gave him the big bass of the tournament. Ellis Silvey, with a stringer weight of 7.47 pounds, won third place.

The club’s next bass tournament will be held on September 10. This is the club’s last regular season tournament of 2011 and it will take place on Hugo Lake, provided that the boat ramps are still usable at that time due to the low water level in the lake. A final decision on the tournament will be made at the club’s regular monthly meeting that will be held on Thursday, September 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wildlife Heritage Center and Museum.
