Patsy Matthews

Patsy Matthews was born February 7, 1937 in Pine Springs to Clarence and Opal (Satterfield) Dillingham. She passed from this life March 18, 2013, in Antlers at the age of 76. Patsy married Baxter Dean Matthews on August 8, 1954, in Darwin. Together, they raised two children and remained married for 57 years until Dean's passing. Patsy worked at Pushmataha Hospital, 1st National Bank, Burrage Law Firm, and Antlers Public School. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, and attending Garden Club meetings. Most of all, Patsy loved spending time with her family and friends. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband: Baxter Dean Matthews; parents: Clarence & Opal Dillingham; brother-in-law: Jack Matthews; and sister-in-law: Dora Jane Coggins. She is survived by her children: Jack Matthews & wife Pam of Antlers and Kay Williams & husband Jerry of Howe; grandchildren: Mellissa Sherrer & husband Aaron of Durant, Michael Matthews of Antlers, Danielle Stone & husband Matt of Dallas, Texas, and Justin Williams of Caulksville, Arkansas; great-granddaughter: Emma Sherrer of Durant; God-grandchildren: McKinley & Hayes Payne; and a sister: Jerry & husband Buddy Taylor of Moyers; brothers & sisters-in-law: Jimmie Taylor of Paris, Texas, Ann & Billy Perrin of Hugo,, Steve & JoAnn Matthews of Miller, Tommy & Jackie Jones of Antlers; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Antlers First Baptist Church with Jerry Williams & Reverend Aaron Reed officiating. Pallbearers include Dwight Satterfield, Mike Nabors, George Norman, Mark Virden, Bobby Burgess, & Eric Peters with Honorary Pallbearers as Garden Club Ladies, Sam Smith, Ed Harper, & Boyce Couch. Interment will follow at Darwin Cemetery.
