Relay For Life to take place May 4th

May 1, 2012

It is once again the time of year we put aside our day to day activities and come together as a community for a cause that has touched most of us in a very personal way.

On Friday, May 4, 2012, residents of Pushmataha County will lace up their walking shoes and gather together in the Joe Decker Building at the Pushmataha County Fair Grounds in Antlers to help raise money and awareness through the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Pushmataha County. Proceeds from this event, and all moneys collect by Relay Teams, will got to the ACS to help individuals diagnosed with cancer and will also benefit the research departments as they continue to strive to find a cure.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the glove celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease. Monetary donations are appreciated, but in no way mandatory. Coming out and showing your support by walking a few laps around the track is more than enough.

The Relay For Life will start with Survivor Registration at 5:30 p.m. Registration will be followed by the Survivor dinner from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. This years’ meal is provided by Representative R.C. Pruett. All Survivors, and Care Givers, are invited and encouraged to attend.

Throughout the night there will be entertainment and activities to keep everyone who is in attendance entertained until the Luminary Ceremony that will take place at 9:30 p.m.

The Relay For Life of Pushmataha County will be from 6:00 p.m. until 12-Midnight. All residents and guests of Pushmataha County are encouraged and welcome to attend this event and help us celebrate and remember all those who have been effected by cancer.
