Robert James Nored Sr.

Robert James Nored, Sr. was born May 25, 1932 in Blythe, CA, to Perry Monroe and Marjorie Estella (Robinson) Nored. He passed from this life January 23, 2013, in Moyers, at the age of 80. Bob served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Houtman on October 29, 1955, in Milford, DE, and together they raised five children in Felton, DE. Bob was of the Baptist faith and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood carving, coaching softball and baseball, and being part of the Moyers annual 4th of July fireworks show. He was proud to be a member of the Sunshine Boys, whom Gretchen Frederick always mentioned in the Moyers News. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Monroe & Stella Nored; & brother-in-law: Oren “Beans” Johnson. He is survived by his wife: Mary of Moyers; children: Robert Nored, Jr. & wife Sandi of Felton, DE, Angela Valeski & husband Scott of Magnolia, DE, Joseph Nored & wife Christina of Newport News, VA, Terri Wright & husband William of Magnolia, DE, and John Nored of San Fransisco, California; grandchildren: Emily, Jonathon, Jessica, & Sara; great-grandchild: Mattox; brothers: Jerry Nored & wife Phyllis of Moyers, and Hal Nored of Moyers; sisters: Yvonne Johnson of Moyers, Marjorie Rember & husband Kenneth of Antlers, Linda Kellett & husband Dale of Moyers, and Judy Hopson & husband Dick of Centerpoint; as well as many other relatives and friends. Memorial Services were held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 28, 2013 at Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel with Brent Franks officiating. Music was be “On Eagles Wings”, “Amazing Grace”, “Here I Am Lord”, & “Battle Hymn Of The Republic”. Honorary Pallbearers included Robert Nored, Jr., Joseph Nored, John Nored, Scott Valeski, Bill Wright, Jonathon Wright, Jerry Nored, Hal Nored, Jessie Morgan, Alford Nabors, Merle Duncan, Mike Brittingham, & Joe Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Antlers Senior Citizens Nutrition Center, 105 NW 3rd Street, Antlers.
