Roy Earl Jackson

Roy Earl Jackson was born December 13, 1930 in Antlers to Roy and Nora Mae (Labor) Jackson. He passed from this life July 8, 2012 in Paris, TX, at the age of 81. Roy served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a car salesman in Antlers for many years, owning Jackson Motors. He married Bernice Thomas on August 19, 2000 at Antlers First Baptist Church. He had served on the City Council since 1988 and was the Mayor of Antlers for 19 years. Roy was a member of several organizations including the Antlers Sportsmans Club, Gideons, & Antlers Roundup Club. He was a member of the Little Dixie Board as well as the KEDDO Board, and was a member of Antlers First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. Roy enjoyed hunting & fishing, and was a bird hunter and roper. He enjoyed singing in the choir and being a part of the church community. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents: Roy & Nora Jackson; first wife: Billie Jo (Dellinger) Jackson; grandsons: Matthew Blaine Elliott & Chad McArthur. He is survived by his wife: Bernice of the home; daughters: Tammy Jackson-Janoe of Antlers, Karla Jackson-Elliott & husband Hank of Antlers, Wanda Leslie & husband Pete of Ft. Worth, TX., and Janice Piper & husband David of Hope, AR.; grandchildren: Amanda Faught & husband Jason, Jamie Bowling & husband Brandon, Rex Leslie & wife Rachel, Roy Mark Janoe & wife Charla Gail, B.J. Janoe, Jamie Smith & husband Cole, David Piper, Jr., & Richie Piper; seven great-grandchildren: Karlea Faught, Khloe Faught, Adyn Leslie, Kaylee Piper, Davy Piper, Tyler Piper, & Justin Piper; siblings: Billy Jackson & wife Pat of McKinney, TX., Gary Paul Jackson & wife Wilma of Moore, and Linda Kay Copeland & husband Gates of Kingwood, TX.; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Antlers First Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Reed officiating. Music included: “I Can Only Imagine”, “Temporary Home”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “Wait Til You See Me In My New Home”, “Dance With My Father Again”, “Blessed Redeemer”- Congregational Led by Doug Troxell with Pianist Ron Henard, and “Thank You”. Pallbearers included: Joel Taylor, Scott Schier, Doyle Battles, Calvin Smith, Brent Franks and Mark Janoe. Honorary Pallbearers included: Brother Sam Dyer, Dr. Ed Ellis, Kenneth Blan, Lanny Nash, Otis Gaines, Wallan McKnight, Aaron Mustin, John Bollier, Floyd Pryor, Sammy Jones and Deacons of First Baptist Church.
