Sardis tournament draws 22 anglers

Bob Smith reeled in an impressive 10.29 pound bass while participating in the Sardis Bass Tournament on June 23, 2012. This fish helped him place second in the tournament.

On Saturday, June 23, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Sardis Lake. Twenty-two members competed in the tournament. The weather was clear and hot, with temperatures in the mid-nineties and light winds. Fourteen members were able to catch at least one keeper bass, with three bass over five pounds weighed in.

Judd Thomas had a six fish limit to win first place for the heaviest stringer. Judd’s stringer weight was 14.71 pounds. Bob Smith finished in second place with a stringer weight of 13.53 pounds. Bob also had the biggest bass of the tournament with a lunker that weighed 10.29 pounds. Congratulations Bob! The third place stringer was caught by Josh Cole. His stringer weighed 11.22 pounds.

The club’s next bass tournament will be on July 14 at McGee Creek Lake. Fishing times will be decided at the club’s next monthly meeting. The club will meet on Thursday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wildlife Heritage Center and Museum.
