Severe storms and dangerous heat expected in Push Co

July 29, 2013

Take precautions as heat index is expected to reach into the 100s. Do not leave children, elderly or pets in hot vehicles.

Pushmataha county and much of southeastern Oklahoma and northeast Texas are under severe thunderstorm and dangerous heat advisories for today and into tonight.

A frontal boundary extending form the Oklahoma panhandle into northeast Texas will move north as a warm front today and tonight. Scattered thunderstorms will develop in the vicinity of the front, especially this afternoon. However, the greatest storm coverage will be in northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas where the upper level support is the greatest.

The afternoon heat index values will be near 100 degrees in our area this afternoon.

Tonight we will see mostly cloudy skies and hit a low of around 73 with winds coming out of the southeast at 5 - 10 mph.
