Solomon Billy

December 15, 2011

Solomon Billy was born on July 28, 1931, in Corinne to Wesley Billy and Nellie Charlie Billy. He passed from this life on December 6, 2011 in Plano, TX, at the age of 80. Sol enjoyed so much, getting up early and cooking breakfast for himself, and whoever was up with him, eat, drink coffee, and talk about news, the garden, or anything in between. He would many times go out on the front porch and sit and drink coffee and watch the goings on. No matter what went on, when Sol told it, in his own unique way, he could make it so funny, you would find yourself laughing so hard you’d lose your breath. Sometimes someone would come by to visit, or need an entertaining partner to go to town with, usually to the parts store. Sol always had lots of funny stories to tell and made visits and trips a treat. He and Margaret enjoyed visits from their grandchildren and great grandchildren every weekend or so. Just watching and listening to them sing and tell jokes and just being silly made them laugh and gave them pleasure and many happy memories. No matter if you were expected or not, Sol and Margaret made you feel welcome, and you knew there was going to be good home cooked food, and lots of laughs. Sol will be missed so much by so many people, there really aren’t words to describe the lonely, quiet, void he has left that can never be replaced. But, Solomon Billy loved the Lord, and he is not in our past, he is in our future. Solomon was a member of the Grace Communion International Church. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, coaching Little League baseball, and playing baseball and softball. He and his wife Margaret, and family, enjoyed going to Gospel singings all around the area. For many years they were out fellowshipping with others at singings somewhere every weekend. Solomon also played the guitar and sang and was a popular guest at the singings. For several years Solomon and Margaret hosted a singing, get-together at their home, to celebrate Sol’s birthday, and lots of friends and family would come and sing and dance and have some of the best times of their lives, and leave looking forward to next year’s birthday celebration. He was preceded in death by his parents. Also, two sons: Darryl Billy and Robert Thomas, one daughter: Geneva Ruth Billy, one granddaughter: Amber Dawn Day, two brothers: Byington and Edwin, and one sister: Deloris. He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Sharkey Billy, nine sons and their wives: David and Jeanie, Jerry and Kelly, Johnny and Karen, Thomas, Solomon Jr. and Vivian, Donald and Donna, Neil and Teresa, Justin and Gina, and his youngest son, Michael. He has three daughters and their husbands: Jo Ellen and Carey, Yvonne, Camilla and Richard. Surviving siblings are, one brother: David, and two sisters: Hazel and Versa. He has 80 grandchildren & great grandchildren. A special friend and neighbor: Jeffrey Davis, and a large host of friends, many from childhood on, and neighbors, who all loved him very much and will so miss him.
