Tea Party News: Mudslinging campaigns are costing candidates votes

July 19, 2012

I have a little advice for candidates in this year’s elections. Watch your language. Or more specifically don’t use negative campaign ads.

I know. I know. Some say if they didn’t work politicians wouldn’t use them. However as a precinct official I heard more people comment that they wouldn’t vote for either of the two biggest offenders in the primary election because of their mud slinging. In other words, the guy no one had every heard of got some votes.

I believe that some candidates lost their races a couple of years ago due to negative campaigning. I don’t know about nationally but I believe it to be true in Oklahoma. Okies are tired of it!

I can understand a difference of opinions on the issues. That’s what it’s about. But that’s no reason to get personal or ugly about it.

So, with that in mind, candidates get ready for this next round but keep it clean. No hitting below the belt! The judges or in this case the voters might just penalize you.
