Texas woman killed in one vehicle collision on HWY 2

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, a collision approximately 5 miles north of Moyers on Sate Highway 2 in Pushmataha County claimed the life of a Paris, TX resident.

At 10:00 a.m., a 2004 Honda Accord being driven by Martha Jo Masters, a 69 year-old white female, was northbound on HWY 2 when the vehicle ran of the roadway to the right. The driver then over-corrected and departed the roadway to the left and struck an embankment causing the vehicle to roll half a time, coming to rest on its top/ A passerby stopped and assisted the driver out of the vehicle.

Masters was transported by EMS helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with massive internal injuries to her core. She was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital.

According to the police report, the condition of the driver is unknown but the cause of the collision was driving too fast for the curves of the roadway. Masters had her seat belt in use at the time of the collision.

This collision was investigated by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Dennis #223 of the Pushmataha County Detachment. He was assisted by the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Department, Choctaw Tribal Police, Antlers EMS and Moyers Fire Department.
