Thelma Henard

Thelma “Nanny Moose” Henard was born on May 1, 1938 in Antlers to Lee & Lillie (Kirk) Martin. She passed from this life January 24, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 73. Thelma married Ron Henard on February 25, 1983. They had remained married for 28 years. During their marriage, they shared their life in Branson, MO; Oklahoma City, and spent the last two years in Antlers. Thelma was of the Assembly of God faith. Her most precious times were spent with her family and friends. Thelma enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were the light of her life. She was loved and adored by all that knew her. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents: Lee & Lillie Martin; son: Robert “Poe” Mills; her brothers: Perry Martin, Grady Martin, & Elvin Martin; and a sister: Laverne Payne. She is survived by her husband: Ron of the home; six children: Randy Mills & Dawn of Antlers, Ronnie Mills & Tracy of Idabel, Rusty Mills of Benbrook, TX, Ricky Mills of Benbrook, TX, Roddy Mills of Antlers, and Terri Kennedy of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren: Robbi Simpson, Randa Spangler, Rebekah Mills, Caleb Mills, Kateleigh Mills, Maverick Mills, Whitney Hamilton, Michael Hamilton and Faith Hamilton; four great-grandchildren: Jerzi Simpson, Brayli Simpson, Jaelyn McIver and Jazlyn McIver; brothers: L.R. “Dooley” Martin and Otis Martin; many nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other family and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Antlers First Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Reed & Brent Franks officiating. Music included “I’ll Fly Away” by Ron Henard & David Smith, “The Other Side of the Door” & “Mama’s Song” by Rusty Mills, and “I Will Leave Something Behind. Pallbearers were Darrin Rader, Mason Dunn, Ronnie Hammons, Joey Martin, Trae Harris, & Robert Jones with Honorary Pallbearers as Dooley Martin, Otis Martin, Monte Martin, Marty Martin, Chance Martin, Bryce Martin, & Bradley Mills.
