Thelma Jean Hamilton

Thelma Jean Hamilton was born April 19, 1927 in Moore, AR., to Eddie and Dora (Kindlyn) Humphrey. She passed from this life September 17, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 84. Thelma Humphrey married Burnerd Hamilton November 6, 1943 in Lodi, CA., and together they raised three children. Thelma was an Associate Pastor with Reverend Andy Reed at the Finley Assembly of God for 10 years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God where she was licensed to preach. Thelma enjoyed singing gospel music with the Hamilton Family Group, which she founded, and playing the guitar. She was an outstanding cook. She loved to fish and spend time with her family and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband: Burnerd Hamilton; parents: Ed & Dora Humphrey; one brother: Elsie Humphrey; three sisters: Lois Shew, Nina Maggard, and Alta Durham; and a grandson: Matthew Cooper. She is survived by her son: Stanley Hamilton of Antlers; daughters: Peggy Caves of Antlers and Brenda Cooper & husband Erv of TN; grandchildren: Rhonda Pearson & husband Kenny of CA, Glenna Cooper Ramage & husband Carl of TN, Tiffany Hamilton of CA, Shane Hamilton of Antlers, Kelly Gibson & husband Paul of Tulsa, and Shelly Webb & husband Travis of Mannsville; great grandchildren: Ryan Miller of TX, Cole Miller of CA, Cassia Dennis and Collin Dennis both of OK, Shelbye Webb of OK, Zachary Ramage, Bobbie Sue Ramage, Jessie Jo Ramage all of TN, Steven Hamilton and Taylor Hamilton both of OK, and Austen Hamilton of CA; sister: Pauline Curnutt of CA; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Mills & Coffey Chapel in Antlers with Reverend Andy Reed and Pastor Joyce Luman officiating. Musical selections included “Poor Rich Man,” “Let Me Talk to the Father” and “Stand Still and See His Mercy.” Pallbearers included: Keith Reed, Travis Webb, Paul Gibson, Shane Hamilton, Stanley Hamilton, Hollis Simpson and Erv Cooper.
