Two listed as critical after collision

Clarence Savage, a 70 year old from Antlers, was transported by Eagle Med Air Ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas after a collision that happened west of Grant in Choctaw County. Savage was listed in critical condition with head and trunk injuries.

On Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, Savage was driving a 1997 Mercury south on HWY 271 when a 2007 International Semi, being driven by William Treese of Missouri, made an unsafe left hand turn in front of Savage.

Savage’s vehicle struck the Semi in the middle of the trailer. Savage and passenger, Louise Jones (62 years old of Antlers) were trapped for approximately 40 minutes before being freed by the Hugo Fire Department’s Jaws of Life.

Jones was also transported by Eagle Med to Parkland in Dallas. Jones was listed in critical condition with head, arm and trunk injuries.

Treese refused treatment at the scene.

This collision was investigated by OHP Trooper Darrell Wofford #740 of the Choctaw Detachment. Assisted by LT. Pierce #125 of the Pushmataha County Detachment; Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office; Choctaw County EMS; Hugo Fire Department; Grant Fire Department and the Choctaw Tribal Security.
