Veneda Beatrice Latham

Veneda Beatrice Latham was born November 6, 1923 in Bokchito to Jesse James and Jewel (Hamlin) McCarty. She passed from this life August 30, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 87. Veneda had been a member of Darwin Baptist Church for many years. She married William David Latham in 1955. Veneda enjoyed caring for her family & cooking, especially for large holiday gatherings. She loved to sew and made most of her own clothes and several items for her friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed taking a drive and doing some local traveling with her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family & friends. Veneda was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse & Jewel McCarty; husband: William David Latham; son: Rod Palmer; and a grandson: Brian Palmer. She is survived by her sons: Billy Latham & wife Phyllis of Antlers, and Larry Palmer & wife Joyce of Blanchard; her great aunts: Thelma McMahan & Juanita Bates; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & great great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Mills & Coffey Chapel with Brent Franks officiating. Musical selections will include: "The Lighthouse," "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers are Mark McMahan, Glen McMahan, Wes Haddox, Dennis Bates, Brian Bates and Dewey Hatcher. Interment will follow at the Antlers City Cemetery in Antlers. Family and friends may send online condolences at www.millscoffey.com.
