By Tracy Steffenson Staff Writer Light the stage and get out the hairspray, the 19th annual Miss Rattan High School Scholarship Pageant is right around the corner. The Pageant will be held on Saturday, March 13th, 2010 in the Rattan Gymnasium, and 10 talented and poised young women will compete against each other for the Miss RHS Crown and over $10,000 is scholarships and prizes. The night will begin with all of the contestants performing a dance number together to the sounds of the Black Eyed Peas, “I Gotta Feeling.” It promises to be a spectacular evening as the contestants are judged on introduction, talent, interview, and evening attire. Each contestant was selected by their classmates in school organizations to represent, and compete for the Miss RHS title. Representing the Lady Rams Softball Team will be Stephany Roden, a junior. She will be singing, “My Baby Loves Me,” and will be escorted by Brian Mack. Shannon Parra, a junior, was chosen to represent the FCCLA. Shannon will be singing “That Song in My Head,” and will be escorted for the evening by Landon Carper. Chosen to represent the 2010 Senior Class was Marlana Barcheers, and will be escorted by Shelby Nelson. Her song choice is “Girl Put Your Record On.” The Freshman Class chose Serena Ryder as their representative, singing “Cowboy Casanova,” Serena will be escorted by Budle Johnson. Representing for the Lady Rams Basketball team is Lyndi Layne Noel, a freshman, escorted by Logan Brown. Lyndi will be dancing to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” A ribbon dance to “Hey, Hey” will be performed by Kendra Rice, a sophomore who is representing the Show Choir, will be escorted by Alex Jackson. Whitney Noel, junior, from the FFA will be singing “Why Haven't I Heard From You.” Noel will be escorted by Cullen Mack. The Skills USA selected Jacklinn Barton, a senior, to represent their organization. She will be singing, “But I Do Love You.” Timothy Fewell will be escorting her for the event. Sarah McCary, junior, will be representing the Drama Club and will be singing “Only Hope.” McCary will be escorted by Dekota Ragsdill. A freshman is competing for the crown for the Yearbook Staff, Brittany Joslin will do them all proud while singing “Waiting on the World to Change,” and being escorted by Dustin Wolfe.
Returning to the stage to entertain the audience, and to pass on the Miss RHS Crown to the 2010 Pageant winner is Kristen Hedge, Miss RHS 2009. Also entertaining on pageant night are Tiffaney Noel and Hailey Bond. Mrs. Tascha (Lawless) Bond, Mrs. Oklahoma 2005 and Miss RHS 1992 will be the emcee for the event.
A Visio 42” flat screen T.V., that the contestants sold chances on, will also be raffled off. Chances may also be purchased at the door. |
