Virginia Weaver

Virginia Lee Weaver was born April 29, 1919 in Antlers to Finis W. and Julia Bernice (Hurley) Bruce. She passed from this life December 18, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 92. Virginia married Henry David "H.D." Weaver in Antlers on January 14, 1939. Together, they raised a son and were married until his passing. Virginia was a member of the Methodist Church for all of her life. She was involved in United Methodist Women (UMW), and she served as the Sunday School secretary for many years. Virginia enjoyed sewing and traveling. She enjoyed old movies and listening to Big Band music, especially Lawrence Welk. Virginia was the most caring woman that any of her family or friends had ever met. She was always taking care of everyone and she enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband: H. D. Weaver; parents: Finis & Julia Bruce; brother: F. W. Bruce; and sister: Mary Jo Fodge. She is survived by her son: David Bruce Weaver of Antlers; granddaughter: Lee Harris & husband Trae of Antlers; great-grandchildren: Cole Harris, Taia Harris, Cade Harris; sister: Jennelle Johnston of Seattle, WA; as well as many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Antlers with Reverend Robert Duran officiating. Music will include “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” performed by Brent Frank. Honorary Pallbearers will include Tom Jackson, Mike Baggett, Jason Baggett, Bob Settles, & Raymond Lough. Interment will be at Oddfellows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: First United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, PO Box 159, Antlers, OK 74523.
