Wheeler Recognized by Texas Professional Organization

December 28, 2012

Driven by a passion to continually reestablish their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their students, local educators recently joined more than 3,000 of their colleagues in three days of professional development activities in Galveston. This annual convention of over 200 programs was sponsored by the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (TAHPERD).

Part of the activities of this conference were the awards and recognition of Lisa Wheeler, a teacher at Oaklawn Elementary/Ft. Worth ISD, with the 2012 TAHPERD Elementary Physical Educator of the Year . TAHPERD acknowledges individuals for their accomplishments and professionalism in the disciplines of health, physical education, recreation, and dance. Lisa Wheeler has earned this distinguished recognition for demonstrating leadership, achieving excellence, and being an outstanding representative and advocate for promoting healthy lifestyles.

Lisa Wheeler has taught for Ft. Worth ISD for 23 years as a K-5th grade P.E. Teacher. She is the daughter of the late Impson Wheeler and Ruby Wheeler of Finley.
