Wilburn Burl Creel

Wilburn Burl “Peck” Creel passed from this life Sunday, May 11, 2014 in Finley, at the age of 88. He was born February 22, 1926 in Alikchi, to J.H. and Ella (Stone) Creel. Peck worked in the log woods in Oregon. He worked as a carpenter in Dallas. He was a contractor for Weyerhauser for 20 years. Peck also worked as a cattle rancher. He lived on Jack Creek for approximately 60 years. The most enjoyable things in his life were his cattle, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to sit on the front porch of his home and watch the cattle graze. Peck is preceded in death by his parents, J.H. & Ella Creel; three brothers: Cecil Creel, Preston Creel, & Wayne Creel; and one sister, Virginia Creel. He is survived by one daughter, Annette Creel of Finley; two sons: Frank Creel & wife JoAnn of Mississippi, and Dennis Creel & wife Glenda of Finley; five grandchildren: Tina Himes, Max Himes, Travis Creel, Amy Martin & Lindsay Wilson; seven great-grandchildren: Cierra Himes, Login Himes, Hannah Himes, Charlie Martin, Emma Grace Creel, Abbie Creel & Avery Creel; brothers: Jim Creel and Clyde Creel. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 4:00pm at the Finley Cemetery Pavilion with Brother Donny Day officiating. Pallbearers include: Max Himes, Travis Wilson, Dustin Hill, Buck Hill, Clint Leathers, and Travis Creel. Honorary pallbearers include: Carl Pitman, Mike Creel, and Paul Creel. Relatives and friends are invited to sign the guestbook or send private condolences online at www.burkhartfuneralservice.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Service in Antlers.
