William Edward Allen, SR. was born September 12, 1921 in Antlers to James and Rose Allen. He passed from this life November 11, 2011 in Mesquite, TX., at the age of 90. Ed Allen was born and raised in Antlers and after several years, returned to the area. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He also assisted in building the very first space shuttle. Ed married Glenna Gibson on October 17, 1942 in Norman and together they raised three children. He was an elder in the State College Church of Christ in Anaheim, CA., for forty years. Ed enjoyed fishing, talking about Antlers, and he especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years: Glenna Allen; parents: James & Rose; and a brother: Harold Allen. He is survived by his three sons: Bill Allen & wife Sue of Denton, TX, John Allen & wife Gee Gee of Dallas, TX, and Richard Allen of CA; five grandchildren: Ed Allen & wife Kerry, Greg Allen & wife Angel, Jennie Dodd & husband Jeremy, Kristie Berryman & husband Jeff, and Katie Ramirez & husband Harley; 15 great grandchildren: Kelsey, Tanner, Will, Tucker, Kylie, Katelyn, Tate, Bronson, Stockton, Riley, Aurora, Jackson, Lucy, Noah, and Jake; as well as many other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Antlers City Cemetery with Remembrances by Sons & Grandsons. Music included congregational by Friends & Family. Honorary pallbearers were all the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Interment followed at the Antlers City Cemetery in Antlers.
