Wilson Taylor Sr.

Wilson Taylor, Sr. was born December 1, 1928 in Corinne to John and Ida (Wesley) Taylor. He passed from this life December 11, 2011 in Goodwater Community at the age of 83. Wilson married Deloris in 1951 in Honeygrove, TX., and they were married for 53 years until her passing. He was a member of Goodwater United Methodist Church. He enjoyed 4-wheeler riding, fishing, hunting, watching his kids & grandkids play kickball, horse shoes, and any other outside games. Mostly, he enjoyed just spending time with his family & friends. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife: Deloris Taylor; four sons: Jeff Taylor, Wilson Taylor, Jr., Jessie Taylor, & Kurt Taylor; grandson: Donald "Porky" Vanhoose; granddaughter: Jennifer Taylor; great-grandson: Dakota Vanhoose; mother: Ida Taylor; & a sister: Jeffie Gibson. He is survived by three sons: Steve Taylor & wife Lisa of Ringold, Rayburn Taylor, Sr. & wife Tonya of Sobol, & John Taylor, Sr. & wife Nikki of Sobol; six daughters: Velma Whisenhunt & husband Pat of Emory, TX, Karen Burt & husband Danny of Hugo, Phil Bohanan of Rattan, Ava Hilton & husband Charles of Tuskahoma, Brenda Haycraft & husband Dean of Hugo, Jennifer Davidson & husband Aubrey of Rattan; one granddaughter he raised as his own: Sequina Hunter & husband Michael of Antlers; brother: Edgar Taylor & wife Hazel of Sobol; 49 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Family Night was from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Goodwater United Methodist Church with Tommy Wesley officiating and Special Musical Selections led by Edgar Taylor & Lyndon Crow. Pallbearers include: Charles Hilton, Sr., Dean Haycraft, Aubrey Davidson, Michael Hunter, Shane Rogers, & Brandon Sam. Interment will follow at Goodwater Cemetery.
