Zack Bearl Payne

Zack Bearl Payne was born November 1, 1926 in Kosoma, to Homer and Nellie (Bohall) Payne. He passed from this life June 10, 2013 in Antlers, at the age of 86. Bearl married Ellen Laverne Martin on August 12, 1944 in Kent. They were married 52 years until her passing. Bearl served for many years as a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. He also served as Fire Chief. He was a charter member of Antlers First Assembly of God Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a lifetime resident of Antlers. Bearl was a business owner and salesman and worked in Central Supply at Pushmataha Hospital as Purchasing Agent. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Koren War and was Master Sgt. when he was discharged. Bearl was preceded in death by his parents: Homer Payne and Nellie "Bohall" Payne; wife: Ellen Laverne "Martin" Payne; brother Glen Payne; sisters: Lorene Nelson; daughters: Sharon Louise Payne and Shelley Kay Lane. He is survived by his daughters: Sherry Burke and husband Billy of Antlers, Sheryl Annette Shannon of Antlers, Joetta Beryl Buchanan and husband Denny of Antlers; 7 grandchildren: Stormy Lyn Sherrer, Kelly Ray Persinger, Misty LeAnn Strange, Mallory Kay Shannon, Christopher Trey Buchanan, Treg Lynn Payne Buchanan, Megan Kaylee Buchanan; 7 great-grandchildren: Lacy Stinson, Magen Sherrer, Ali Persinger, Preston Persinger, Bryson Persinger, Blade Douglas Strange, Catlyn LeAnn Strange; 2 great-great-grandchildren: Atticus Stinson, and Asher Stinson, as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2:00pm at First Assembly. Officiating the service will be Reverend Herbert Davis. Pallbearers will be Billy Sam Smith, Merle Lee Moss, Trae Harris, Gary Hammons, Trey Buchanan and Treg Buchanan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eugene Vaughn, Fred Manous, Virgil Blan, Larry Nelson, Terry Nelson, Otis Martin, Dooley Martin, Jason Kuykendal. Interment will follow at Antlers City Cemetery.
