On Friday night, May 6, 2011 residents of Pushmataha County gathered together at the 2011 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Pushmataha County at the Antlers Bearcats Football Stadium. This years Relay held a much different ambiance as it felt much less chaotic than the previous years and it returned once again to the great outdoors where it belongs.
This years theme, "TOON Out Cancer" could be seen everywhere with tents decorated in "Toy Story," "The Bee Movie," "Disney's Robin Hood," "Lilo & Stitch," "Looney Toons," and so many other delightful and fun loving cartoons. Teams were even dressed to impress in custom T-shirts and even head-to-toe homemade costumes!
Well everyone, Pushmataha County did it again! We met our goal and managed to raise thousands of thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society to put towards helping cancer patients and their families, and hopefully one day finding a cure!
We would like to thank all of the Survivors who came out and allowed us to celebrate with them and for allowing us to share this special night together. Many people put a lot of hours into making this event the success it was and it couldn't have got done without them! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to a most worthy cause. You could tell that the volunteers that were involved this year put everything they had into the event, doing it out of the good of their hearts and for no other reason. Go Cure!
