Georgia May Self was born October 21, 1904 in Antlers to David and Carrie (Fowler) Roebuck. She passed from this life on June 27, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 106. Georgia lived and worked her entire life in the Antlers area. She married Chester Self on January 17, 1948. She enjoyed spending time with family and the many friends she made during her lifetime. Georgia also enjoyed traveling thoughout the United States. She was very proud of her Choctaw heritage and proud of being one of the original enrollees into the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She touched many lives during her time on this earth and will be missed by all of her friends & family. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband: Chester Self; parents: David & Carrie Roebuck; brothers: William Roebuck, Dewey Roebuck, & Jesse Roebuck; sisters: Flossie Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Viola Fromme, Beatrice Ringwald, & Geneva Carr. Georgia is survived by her sister: Vivian Allen of Antlers; several nieces & nephews in the Antlers area and other locations; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Antlers with Reverend Robert Duran officiating. Musical selections will include “In The Garden” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” both performed by Dee McKinney. Pallbearers will include: Ronnie Carter, James Carter, Don Carter, Clyde Carr, David Fromme and Thomas Rosenthal. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Potter, B.J. Potter, Ronald Potter and Ronald Potter.
