Talmadge Lee (Tuffie) Stone passed from this life December 14, 2011 in West Plains, MO., at the age of 77 after a severe illness. He was born January 6, 1934 in Dunbar to James I. and Vishey Lee (Gregg) Stone. He met Joyce Ann Garrison in Sacramento, CA and married Joyce on August 1, 1965 in Carson City, NV. He started school in Moyers where he attended school until about the 4th grade when the family moved to Antlers where he attended school before moving to Hatfield, AR. for high school. The family moved back to Antlers about mid 1950, moving on to California in 1951 where Tuffie, as he was then known, worked with his dad on a turkey ranch before going to work at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. in 1952. He married Evelyn Metcalf in 1953. While in Sacramento, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served until 1959 going back to work at McClellan AFB until retiring and moving back home to Antlers, where he worked at various jobs before moving to West Plains, MO. for full retirement. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charlie, O.D., J.I. (Pete) and sisters Audrie (Tootsie) and Ophelia. He is survived by wife Joyce, of the home, sisters ImaJo and Jerrel Singleton of Amarillo, TX., Monett and Verne Jackson of Antlers, children Troy, Shaun, Michael and Jeanette along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date in West Plains, MO.
