On Tuesday, January 24, 2012 an injury collision occurred on HWY 2 approximately 6 miles north of Clayton at 11:05 a.m.
A 2006 Toyota pickup that was being driven by Antonio Gonzales, a 72 year old male from Clayton, was traveling south on HWY 2 when the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet roadway, ran off the road to the right and came to a stop after striking a tree.
Gonzales was transported to the Choctaw Nation Hospital in Talihina and was then transported to McAlester Regional Hospital. Gonzales was reported to be in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries.
The condition of driver at the time of the incident was apparently normal and the investigating Trooper feels the cause of the collision was the driver was traveling at an unsafe speed for the condition of the roadways.
