This past Saturday night our Bearcats and Lady Cats were set to play the Valliant Bulldogs in our one and only District game. Coming into this game the Lady Bulldogs had a season record of 8-14, and both of our teams came into the play offs with a record of 13-9.
Even though Valliant's Lady Bulldogs won the tip-off and tried to keep up with our Lady Cats they were just simply no match, with our Lady Cats ending the first period of play with a score of 14-4. Sophomore Cheyenne Simpson was the leading scorer of this game, even though she didn't come into the game until well into the second half, with 12 points,
4 steals, and shot 85.7% FG a/m from the floor.
Junior Megan Brame was second in line with 11 points, and 100% a/m 3 point shots. The Ladies closed the first half of play with a score of 24-4 Lady Cats. In the second half of the game the Lady Bulldogs still weren't able to do much with our Lady Cats giving them very little breathing room, only allowing them score 6 points that period, ending the third period
with a score of 30-14. Sr. Railey Beth Gardner, Jr. Megan Brame, and Soph.
Cheyenne Simpson were a big part of the Lady Cats defensive game with Railey Beth and Cheyenne having 4 steals each and Megan with 5. Sr.'s Taylor Tedder and Cheyenne Owens were also able to help out defensively with 3 rebounds each, and Cheyenne
with one steal. In the fourth period our Lady Cats were able to take and even larger
lead claiming a 47-21 victory over the Valliant Lady Bulldogs and also claiming the 2011-2012 District Championship title.
In the next game of the night our Bearcats took on Coach Aaron Noel's Bulldogs, who coming into this game had a record of 12-11. This game had us all a little worried since the last time we met up with them they were able to take home a victory, so our Bearcats knew they would have to play their best.
Junior Jakub "Jimmy" Mician won the tip-off for our Bearcats and started out the first half with a back and forth scoring game, and ended the first period with a score of 6-7 Valliant. The second period was also able to keep us all on the edge of our seats and blood pressure's raised high with both teams answering each other offensively and defensively, closing the first half of the game with a score of 22-24 Valliant.
Junior Bryce Martin was at the top of the stat sheet with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Junior Jakub "Jimmy" Mician was next in line also scoring 10 points, with 3 rebounds. In the 2nd half it seemed like they couldn't miss and we couldn't buy a basket and we ended the 3rd period of the game with a score of 31-40 Valliant.
Junior Harlan House, third on the stat sheet had 6 points, and 3 rebounds. Big defensive players were Sophomore Tanner Brown and Junior Caleb Smith with 5 rebounds each, and Caleb having one steal with Tanner having 2 steals and 2 blocks. In the fourth period the Bulldogs were able to widen the gap even more and take this win and District Championship with a final score of 52-37.
