Raymond Roy Wren was born February 10, 1921 in Nashoba to John William and Lucy Mae (Witt) Wren. He passed from this life February 21, 2012 in Oklahoma City at the age of 91. Raymond was born in the Blackfork Community, where he also attended school. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Ship's Cook, Third Class aboard the USS Breton during World War II. While stationed in Norman, he married Betty Louise Simonton and then later married Margorie Olive Greer. Raymond was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps No. 2824, Carpenter's Local Union No. 329, and was also involved with both the Antlers and Clayton VFW's. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents: William & Lucy Wren; son: Raymond Dwayne Wren, Jr.; dancing partner and wife: Margorie Olive Greer; brothers: Vester, Otis, & Pete; and sisters: Alma, Flossy, Dorothy, May, & Margret. He is survived by a son: William Earl Wren of Nashoba; two daughters: Patricia Turner of Shreveport, LA and Priscilla Moore of Nashoba; sisters: Nita of Pauls Valley, Lena of Antlers, Lucy of AR, Frances of CA, & Lana of Pauls Valley; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Nashoba Valley Baptist Church with Wendell McClung & Pastor Charlie Mueller officiating. Musical selections included “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “It Is Finished”, & “I Sure Miss You”. Pallbearers included: Wendell McClung, Jeff McClung, Earl Wren, Andrew Dobrey, Foster Dobrey, & Patrick Dobrey. Honorary Pallbearers were: Roy Gene Wren & Drew Hamman.
