On Saturday, March 24, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Hugo Lake. Twenty-one members competed in the event. With the lake level some fifteen feet above normal elevation, catching a keeper bass, or any bass at all for that matter, proved to be quiet difficult. Only six anglers were able to bring a bass to the scales at weigh-in time.
Billy Hensley won the tournament with a stringer weight of 5.01 pounds. Finishing in second place was Johnny Ivey. His stringer weighed 4.39 pounds. Kaleb Hensley came in third with a stringer weight of 4.03 pounds. Johnny Ivey also had the big bass of the tournament with a bass weighing 2.70 pounds.
The club’s next tournament will be on Sardis Lake on April 7. Fishing will begin at "safe light" and will end at 4:00 p.m. Launch site for the tournament will be the Sardis Cove boat ramp.
