
On Saturday, March 17, 2012, the Pushmataha County Junior Bassmasters and Conservation Club held its first fishing tournament of the 2012 season. The tournament was sponsored by the Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers. The local business donated money that was used to purchase prizes for each youth contestant in the tournament. It was an adult/youth team tournament and was held at McGee Creek Lake. Launch time was at 8:00 a.m. with the weigh-in being held at 2:00 p.m. at the Buster Hight Ramp.
Winning first place for the day was the father and son team of Kindel and Dillian Holiman. They were able to catch a limit of fish that weighed 8.67 lbs. Finishing in second place was the team of Jett Gardner and Jake Nabors with a limit that weighed 6.08 lbs. Finishing third was the team of Rick Barriger and Jessie Shrader with a weight of 2.17 lbs.
Big bass honors also went to the Holiman team with a bass that weighed 1.96 lbs. Each youth contestant took home nice prizes donated by Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers.
The club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, April 12th at the Wildlife Heritage Center Museum in Antlers at 7:00 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the Junior Bassmasters is welcome to attend.
