Antlers Public Schools, like most public schools, is in the middle of state testing. Many of us remember these tests as Achievement tests. However, the stakes from the results of these tests are higher than we have ever seen.
For example, twelfth graders will be the first class to have to pass 4 of 7 EOIs (End of Instruction) tests in order to graduate. Progress for each student will now be measured in order to gain a consistent grade for our schools with the new A-F grading system.
Lastly, the PASS standards will soon be replaced by Common Core standards for students to master. This will help with uniform national standards among states, instead of having different standards for each grade level among states. Again, another example of the changing climate for public education, as new laws, policies, and objectives are being enacted.
On a different note, many end-of-year activities have been scheduled. We encourage our parents, supporters of these programs, and community to join in the fun as we close out these programs with banquets, celebrations and awards.
Please contact our offices or check the website for dates and times.
Lastly, with the end of the school year comes many exciting times for our students in the way of field trips, ballgames, and planning family summer vacations. With this said, we all want to end this school year on a strong note. This means being at school on time, eager to learn, and actively engaged in all classes.
From administration and staff at Antlers Public Schools, we appreciate the support you have given and want to remind all stakeholders to finish this school year in a positive way!
