Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Tommy Allen was patrolling near EZ Mart in Antlers when he noticed two females in a hurry leaving the store on foot. When he made contact with the females, Rebecca V. Farley told the officer that she let some guy drive her vehicle to take a cat down the road. Allen stated that it seemed odd to him that someone would let another person drive their vehicle and leave them at a store in a town that they didn’t live in.
At that time the officer noticed a silver ford truck driving north on “I” Street and Farley stated that was her vehicle. The driver was identified as Scotty Chism. Chism was not wearing his seat belt and pulled into the EZ Mart parking lot.
Trooper Allen asked Chism if he could see his drivers license and he stated that he didn’t have one so he gave the officer his name and date of birth. Allen ran the name and wasn’t able to find a valid license. Chism was placed under arrest for driving without a valid license and failure to wear a seat belt.
While Allen was patting down Chism, he found a bag containing a green leafy substance that field tested for marijuana. Later, during the inventory of t he vehicle, Trooper Allen found another plastic bag with a green leafy substance in between the seat where the driver was sitting.
Chism was taken to the Pushmataha County Jail for possession of marijuana, driving without a valid license and failure to wear a seat belt. While at the jail, Chism told Allen that his name was Scotty Brandon Chism and went as far as to spell out his middle name. Later it was discovered that his real name was Scotty Ryan Chism, of Hugo, and his birth date was different then that attached to Scotty Brandon Chism.
Chism is being charged with Falsely impersonating another to create liability (felony), Possession of a controlled dangerous substance (misdemeanor), Driving without a valid drivers license (misdemeanor) and Failure to wear a seat belt (misdemeanor).
Chism’s bond was sent in the amount of $1332.00. He was scheduled to have his initial appearance in court on Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
