I got myself into a conversation with a liberal fellow a while back. His viewpoint was that the most important thing that government could do is health care for everyone and education. My contention was that we can’t have either without a thriving economy. Before we could get into a full blown debate, he left the room.
As I thought about this it sounded timely and all too familiar. I think that is what congress is doing now. I also think that it is time they get together and do their job. You can’t leave the room every time your opponent says something that hurts your feelings or you disagree with. Get over it, go to work, make some compromises if you must, and get the job done. Our economy and the national debt are too important to overlook and they must be dealt with.
So the next time someone says that we should be provided with rainbow stew and free bubble-up, ask how we’re going to pay for it?
If they don’t walk out on you.
