David Lee Chavis was born October 14, 1943 in Vernon, TX, to Joe and Florence (Nowabbi) Chavis. He passed from this life February 17, 2013 in Moyers, at the age of 69. David served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed artwork and loved his horses. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. David was preceded in death by his father: Joe Chavis. He is survived by his children: Tammy Price of Pottsboro, TX, Danetta Smith of Sherman, TX, Tabatha Rangel & husband Johnny of Sherman, TX, and Michael Martin & wife Rachel of Antlers; grandchildren: Chad Franklin, David Price, Brendon Haliburton, Michael Smith, Michaella Smith, & Zane Chavis; mother: Florence Chavis of Moyers; brother: Joe Chavis & wife Vickie of Sherman, TX; sister: Ella Martin & husband Ronnie of Big Lake, TX; as well as many other relatives and friends. Memorial Services were held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Baker officiating. Music was “Arms of the Angel” & “I Hope You Dance”.
