Frances Cumpton passed from this life on Thursday, April 17, 2014 in Antlers. She was born March 31, 1923 to Virgil and Lillie (Neighbors) Crawford in Hall. Frances married J.D. Cumpton on April 11, 1947 in Paris, TX. Frances graduated from Antlers High School. As a teenager, she worked for Halley’s Drug Store and also volunteered at the hospital. She loved fishing, baling hay. She also loved her dogs. Frances lived most of her life in Sobol, where she was a devoted member of Sobol Baptist Church. She loved attending services and singing. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Cumpton; her parents, Virgil and Lillie Crawford; and her three sisters: Velma Crawford, Thelma Crawford, and Claudy Crawford; and one brother, Ray Crawford. She is survived by dear friends: Audrey Carter and husband Bob of Finley, Brenda Lawless and husband Jerry Lawless of Sobol, Eula Rymel and family of Sobol, Bob Kane and family of Sobol as well as numerous other friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hall Cemetery Pavilion with Brother David Jordan officiating. Pallbearers included: Jerry Lawless, Rick Dickerson, Johnnie Courtwright, Kenneth Dickerson, Raymond Persinger and Johnny Corgill.
