Antlers Public School Facing 2nd Lawsuit

The Antlers Public School District is facing yet another lawsuit in response to the recent suspensions of middle school students involved in a prescription drug incident on school property during school hours.

The first suit came from the Thatcher family after their daughter was suspended for the rest of the 2011 school year for having been in possession of a prescription medication that was a generic non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Carol Sue Baldwin

Carol Sue Baldwin was born November 17, 1941 in Idabel to Hylo and Evia (Farley) Pitt. She passed from this life March 25, 2011 in Eufaula at the age of 69. Carol married Doyle Hood Baldwin on September 24, 1960 in Hugo and together they raised three children. Carol lived in the Rattan & Antlers communities all of her life. She was a member of Antlers First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Hylo & Evia Pitt; two brothers: Hal Pitt and Terry Pitt; and a nephew: Stephen Pitt.

Three Men Facing Drug Felonies

Three county men are facing several drug-related felonies after officers serving a search warrant found drugs.

According to information filed in district court, on Tuesday, officers with the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Department and District 17 Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence of Ronald Clark. When the officers arrived, they found Clark as well as Jamie Calhoun, and Joshua Wade Scherer sitting at a table.

High School Student to Attend BPA in Washington

 Justin Frisk, Antlers High School, will join over 5,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2011 National Leadership Conference, "Stand Out From The Crowd," in Washington, D.C. May 4th though the 8th.  Frisk will be participating in a national level business skills competition. 

Besides having the opportunity to excel, they’ll experience the history and government of our nation through Washington, DC monuments, memorials and museums.

Antlers Cheerleaders Raise Funds

 On Saturday, March 26, the Antlers High School Cheerleaders gathered together at Sonic Drive-In in Antlers to try to raise funds to help cover Cheerleading Camp costs.

Along with the funds the cheerleaders raised being carhops, manager Matt Early and the Sonic crew donated 10% of all profits made during the four hours that the squad was there.

Thanks to them and the generous donations from the community, the squad raised $1050.10. 

The AHS Cheerleaders would like to say thank you to all who came out to support them and make this day such a success.

Webelos Welcome Home Troops

The Webelos II Den of Pack 396 went to DFW Airport during Spring Break to participate in the "Welcome Home the Troops" program.  Everyday more than 100 troops arrive at the airport on their way home for two weeks of well-deserved rest and recuperation (R&R).  Most of these members of the armed forces are returning home from their service in Irag and Afghanistan.
