Antlers student chosen for Choctaw Electric Energy Camp

Kacee Schier, an 8th grader at Antlers Obunch Middle School and the daughter of Kathy and Scott Schier, was recently named the Pushmataha County winner of the Choctaw Electric Cooperative’s Energy Camp essay contest. Schier submitted a 150 word essay on the topic: “Write your school Board, addressing a change you would like to implement in your school!” This essay was part of a contest to be able to attend the Choctaw Electric Cooperative’s Energy Camp.

The Antlers FCCLA Participates in STAR EVENTS

The FCCLA Southeast District III STAR Events were held in Hugo on November 29, 2011. Payton Gentry competed in Senior Creed Speaking and Interpretation and placed first earning her the privilege to compete at the regional contest. Matthew Burch, competed in Junior Creed Speaking and Interpretation placing second; and Emily Wolfe competed in Senior Illustrated Talk.

Rattan FCCLA member advances to State

Rattan FCCLA members traveled to Ada for the SE Regional Competitive Events. Bree’Andra Palmer, 1st place in Teach and Train event; Taylor Bankston, 2nd place in Career Investigation Jr. and Morgan Bond, 3rd place in Career Investigation Sr. Bree’ Andra will be going to the FCCLA State Competition at Stillwater in March. Students are advised by Kathy Boone.

Lodging tax passed

After the polls were closed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, the unofficial totals of the votes for Pushmataha County were the following.

For the City of Antlers, the Lodging Tax that was purposed passed with 90.57% of the votes approving this tax.

In Moyers, John P. Nored took Moyers Public School Board Member, office #2 with 85.51% of the votes over Annita McBride who had 14.49% of the votes.

For Rattan Public School Board Member, office #2, Valerie Clay Merida won with 359 votes over Bill Dansby’s 277 votes. Merida won with 56.45% of the votes.

Military bridge beams stolen near Clayton

February 16, 2012

On Sunday, February 12, 2012, a Pushmataha County Deputy was dispatched to a call referencing items being taken from the Bridge area that is located on Dees Road, south of Clayton approximately 8 miles and off HWY 2 on Dees Road near Kiamichi River.
